AP Opposition party leader YS Jaganmohan Reddy had narrowly escaped a shocking attack upon him in Visakhapatnam airport today. A person named Srinivasa Rao has resorted to this attack and police took him in to custody immediately. The attacker is a worker at a restaurant in the airport.
The person went near to Jagan in the guise of taking a selfie and attacked him with a knife which is usually used for cockfights. Jagan suffered a minor injury on the back of his shoulder. Jagan’s security and supporters immediately swung into action to stop the attacker. As soon as the attack news came out, Minister Nara Lokesh tweeted “Strongly condemn the attack on Opposition Leader @ysjagan garu that happened at Vizag airport. Such cowardly attacks have no place in modern society.” On the other hand, AP governor ESL Narasimhan condemned the attack and called up AP DGP and enquired about the law&order situation in the state.
YSRCP leaders are condemning the attack and they are demanding a high-level enquiry to unearth the conspiracy behind the murder attempt. Meanwhile, Jagan also assured his well wishers through the Twitter account after the attack. He tweeted that “To everyone worried about my safety – I’d like to inform you that I am safe. God’s grace and the love, concern & blessings of the people of Andhra Pradesh will protect me. Such cowardice acts will not dissuade me but only strengthen my resolve to work for the people of my state!”
