Director Shankar has teamed up with Kamal Haasan for his next film ‘Indian-2’, a sequel to the blockbuster film ‘Indian’ which was released in the 90s. Lyca Productions, the producers of ‘2.0’ came forward to produce the movie. The movie regular shoot has been kickstarted a few weeks ago but the shooting has been stalled abruptly. Several rumors are circulating in the Kollywood film circles regarding this project now.
Lyca Productions reportedly asked director Shankar to give clear budget estimates and a sign an agreement promising that it won’t exceed the specified budget. Lyca Productions banner had to face the heat during the production of ‘2.0’ as the initial estimates were nowhere near to the final budget figures. So, they wanted to make sure that the budget will not go out of control because of their improper planning. When Lyca guys asked for an agreement Shankar reportedly refused to sign it. He went on convincing them that budgets will shoot up for this kind of projects and he can’t give an exact figure now.
As Shankar is not giving any guarantee on the exact budget, Lyca is not keen to take up the project further. Kamal’s market is less compared to Rajini and it is a huge risk of investing hundreds of crores on his film. We have to wait for a few more days to know whether the project will go to the sets or gets shelved.
