Kangana Ranaut starrer ‘Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi’ released on the Republic Day weekend in the last month and it is doing pretty well at the box office. The movie which was surrounded by several controversies is slowly inching towards Rs.100 crore collection mark at the box office.
Bollywood trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted that Manikarnika has picked up speed on the third Saturday and Sunday and steadily registering collections. He revealed that the Total India collections stand at Rs.91.70 crores now. The movie has tough competition from Sonam Kapoor’s latest film ‘Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga’ but it is still able to draw the audience to the theaters.
It is known that Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi is based on the story of Rani Laxmibai, who fought against the East India Company. The movie was initially directed by Krish. When he walked out of the project in the last minute, Kangana took up the direction responsibilities. Irrespective of the controversies, the movie turned out to be a winner at the box office.
